10 Tips On How To Be Happier

Sometimes it can feel hard to feel happy, especially when things around you are not going quite to plan. Sometimes it is about changing some things in your life and other times it is about changing your state of mind. Here are ten tips on how to feel happier:

 

 

1. Remind yourself how great you are.

Write down all the things you have achieved and how you have helped other people. Put this list somewhere that you will see often, perhaps a mirror or on your bedroom door. Make sure you take the time to remind yourself of these things each day.

 

2. Listen to some uplifting music

Put on some of your favourite music. Make sure they are songs that will make you want to dance. Then dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one can hear you. I bet you will feel a bit better!

 

3. Spend some time around animals

As long as you are no allergic, animals will always make you feel better. Borrow your friends dog and take it for a walk. Volunteer at your local rescue centre and make a fuss of the cats. Animals can really help lift your mood.

 

4. Count your blessings.

There’s nothing like a little thankfulness to boost your mood. Research shows expressing gratitude can make you happier. Try writing down three things you’re thankful for at the end of each night.

 

5. Hang out with someone who is happy.

Ever felt more depressed when you spend time around depressed people? Well this works both ways. Call up your friend and spend some time having happy time.

 

6. Exercise.

This is probably the last thing you want to do when you are feeling low but it will honestly help. Go for a walk,go jogging or head for the gym. When you work up a sweat, you release endorphins, immediately upping your happiness levels.

 

7. Get spiritual.

Spirituality and religion have been linked to higher happiness and well-being. Additionally, the list of meditation benefits seems endless. So reconnect with your spiritual self and  spend some time meditating.

 

8. Random acts of kindness

We didn’t get to where we are without a little help, so why not extend that same help to someone else? Studies show that helping others will make you happier, too. So get working your magic and take part in some random acts of kindness.

 

9. Get enough sleep.

It is so important to get those 8 hours of sleep per night. If you are feeling tired than you will find it so much more difficult to find some happiness. Try taking a nap during the day, if you are struggling to sleep at night or go to bed that little bit earlier.

 

10. Have a good cry.

It sounds counterintuitive, but research has found that crying can lead to positive increase in mood following the flow of tears. Those in the study reported feeling better than they did before they had a reason to cry.
